Why should I get my teeth whitened?
A bright smile is the best accessory that anyone can wear. Millions of people suffer from teeth discoloration to varying degrees. Even those who brush, floss, and visit the dentist regularly may find that they still cannot attain a natural-looking white smile.
How does White Blitz™ Work?
There intrinsic discoloration occurs in the dentin layer, and can be caused by exposure to fluoride or tetracycline antibiotics at an early age. Also, the aging process itself can cause discoloration. Extrinsic discoloration occurs in the enamel layer of the tooth. There are numerous tiny pores on the surface of the enamel, which can hold stains from food, drinks, and smoking.
Teeth whitening products containing peroxide can effectively lighten or eliminate stains. Peroxide (usually in the form of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide) is diffused through the enamel to produce free radicals that oxidize the colored components, thus helping to remove the stains. Peroxide based products have been proven to be a safe and effective way to whiten teeth. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved both hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide as oral antiseptic agents in 1983.
LED light emitting cold blue light activates the hydrogen peroxide and can accelerate the whitening process. The vast majority of patients have been satisfied with the outcome of their whitening treatment. Side effects are rare and mild, and the treatment is convenient and non-invasive.
How long does a treatment take?
Treatments are very quick and painless due to LED light technology. You can choose a Regular (quick) 15 minute “Pick Me Up Whitening” treatment or a “Stronger Whiter” (double) 30 minute treatment. We also offer Superior Cosmetic Teeth Whitening (a higher grade product) for an hour+ treatment session.
Is White Blitz™ Teeth Whitening safe?
Teeth’s whitening is a low-risk procedure, and therefore it is suitable for a wide range of patients.
Who should use caution when whitening their teeth?
There are certain factors that may preclude patients from being good candidates for treatment. These include but are not limited to:
How often do I need to get my teeth whitened?
Teeth whitening routines vary greatly from person to person based on their starting tooth-color and diet. Most importantly there are two stages that apply to everyone: initial whitening and maintenance. For initial therapy, treatments are administered for as long as it takes to reach your desired shade of whiteness. Once you have reached that shade, you are in the maintenance stage of whitening. Then each individual’s treatment is based on their desired whiteness, diet and home care. Some people only need touchups. For in-office bleaching, a yearly treatment is recommended. At-home OTC treatments can be used daily, but for no more than two consecutive weeks.
It is recommended that prior to whitening, have your teeth examined and cleaned by your dentist, to make sure there are no cavities or gum issues. Clean teeth get a much better result!
